It’s not every day you see Malaysian currency being sold overseas—especially at an antique shop.
Recently, a Malaysian man was left stunned after spotting a RM5 banknote for sale at an antique shop in Barcelona, Spain, for a whopping €6, approximately RM30.

He shared his discovery on Threads via his account, @eizuwan, where he posted a picture of the RM5 note with a price tag attached.
“Jumpa dekat booth barangan antik dekat Barcelona, Spain. RM5 kita diorg jual sampai €6 (RM30) ,” he captioned the video, expressing his surprise at the price.
Netizens shared their thoughts
The post quickly gained attention from fellow Malaysians, who were equally confused. Many questioned why a relatively new banknote was being sold in an antique shop.
One user pointed out, “The serial number is probably what makes it expensive.”

Another questioned, “The problem is this is a new note, not an old one. How did it end up in an antique shop?”

Meanwhile, another netizen joked, “It’s considered antique because in Malaysia, everyone just uses QR codes now.

The discovery has left many wondering how the note made its way to Spain in the first place.
Whether it was brought there by a collector, a traveller, or ended up there by chance, one thing’s for sure—Malaysian currency is making an impression overseas!
