As multiple states grapple with widespread flooding, a video circulating online has captured attention for its striking depiction of “Nasi Banjir,” or “Flood Curry Rice.”
The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows a worker at a banana leaf restaurant drenching a plate of rice with an overflowing mix of seven different curry gravies.
From Banana Leaf Rice to ‘Flood Dish’
In the viral clip, a restaurant employee is seen generously layering various curries over a serving of plain white rice, transforming the dish into what some have dubbed a “culinary representation of flood season.”

The final result? A dish submerged under 15 scoops of curry, its appearance resembling muddy floodwaters.
The excessive amount of curry has sparked humor and discomfort, with viewers comparing it to the sludge left behind by floods.

Netizens’ reaction
Netizens poured in comments under the video, with some found the exaggerated serving comical, while others were less amused.
“It’s better if you just sleep inside that pot.”

“I like Nasi Kandar too… but not flooded like that… it already looks like diarrhea… ewww.”

“This is what you call Flash Flood Rice (Nasi Banjir Kilat), where the drainage is clogged, and no one’s monitoring.”
