While Malaysia has a fairly efficient public transport system for its citizens, there still exists the frustrating reality of long wait times, unexpected breakdowns, and lack of public walkways.
A local content creator recently sparked a debate among netizens after he posted a clip of him expressing his desire to see Malaysia implement a public transport system that serves the people well enough without having to achieve “first world” status.

M’sian says he wants better public transport system
In an Instagram reel posted by Malaysian content creator Andrew Kuan, it showed him taking a ride on an MRT train while having a pensive look on his face.
In the in-text caption, he expressed his thoughts regarding the country’s public transport system and the changes he wished to see in the future.
Dear Malaysia, I don’t need you to be a first world country, but I wish there was a public transport system which is convenient and reliable so that I can visit the city on foot and travel back home safely and on time.

He then added in the post caption that while “Malaysia is great, but I believe we can be better!”
Divided reactions
In the comment section, Andrew’s thoughts about Malaysia’s public transport system caused quite a stir, which led to a debate taking place within netizens.
Some agreed with his opinion, saying that more can be done to improve the existing public transport system.


On the other hand, some hit out at Andrew and argued that Malaysia’s public transport system was already on par or better than most countries.
A netizen even sarcastically asking whether Andrew needed a public transport system that led straight to the gym from his house for it to be counted as “convenient”.
