The gas pipeline fire that erupted in Putra Heights on 1 April left a trail of destruction, severely damaging nearby homes and forcing residents to flee for their safety.

In the midst of the chaos, some pets were unintentionally left behind during the emergency evacuation.

Trapped in a metal cage

According to a video posted on TikTok, one quick-thinking neighbour rushed to rescue several stranded cats after hearing their desperate cries coming from a locked cage near one of the burnt houses.

The cats were trapped in a metal cage, and you could hear them meowing. We had to act fast,” the neighbour reportedly said.

After being freed, the frightened cats bolted from the scene, and their current whereabouts remain unknown.

Cat shaken inside the cage

Video from the scene show the charred remains of a house, with blackened debris and collapsed walls, reflecting the severity of the fire.

The black-and-white cat can be seen cowering inside a damaged metal cage, visibly shaken but alive, moments before it was rescued.

The incident has sparked concern among netizens, with many praising the neighbour’s bravery and urging others to include pets in emergency plans.
