Quitting a job is a big decision, and one Malaysian man is now living with the regret of making that choice without a proper plan or even informing his parents.
According to mStar, in a TikTok video that has since gone viral, the man shared how he resigned from his job out of frustration but kept it a secret from his family.
Took on delivery job to survive
To keep up the act, he pretended to go to work every day, even though he was actually unemployed.
I resigned without my family knowing. Every day I have to act like I’m going to work,” he admitted in the post.
While unemployed, he took on delivery jobs to survive, but the income wasn’t enough. He had financial commitments, including a car loan, and eventually had to dip into his savings, which only lasted four months.
“Idon’t eat during the day and just bring boiled water from home. I only eat after getting home when my mum cooks,” he wrote, explaining how he skipped meals during the day and only ate at night when his mother cooked.
Despite sending out numerous job applications, he said most companies never replied to his emails, leaving him even more stressed.
Regrets making rash decision
Needless to say, the decision to quit his job has left the man wishing he hadn’t done it in the first place.
“I regret making such a rash decision. It’s really hard to get a job these days,” he shared.
At the end of his post, he advised others not to make the same mistake.
Please, don’t ever resign without having another job lined up. Think things through carefully before making a decision. Please pray that my job search will be smooth.”
The video has since garnered nearly half a million views, with many netizens offering words of encouragement and sharing their own experiences with unemployment and family expectations.
