Eight FM has issued a public apology after its morning show hosts defended South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun amid recent allegations concerning his relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron.

The controversy began when a YouTube channel alleged that Kim Soo Hyun had been involved with Kim Sae Ron since she was 15 years old.
Kim Soo Hyun’s agency has strongly denied these claims, labeling them as “completely false” and threatening legal action.
In response to the allegations, Eight FM’s DJs were the only fews to publicly defend Kim Soo Hyun, stating their belief in his innocence.
Eight FM issues apology
However, after further public feedback and reflection, they retracted their statements and issued an apology today (17 March).

Eight FM also clarified in a statement that the DJs’ opinions did not reflect the station’s official stance or values.
The station emphasized its commitment to adhere to broadcasting standards and began an internal review to strengthen content management and discussion supervision policies.
Eight FM’s statement, issued on Sunday (March 16) reads:
We take this matter seriously and have started internal reviews as part of our commitment to responsible broadcasting.
As a part of the media industry, we pledge to take necessary measures to ensure our programming aligns with professional standards and ethics.”
The station also acknowledged the potential dissatisfaction with the hosts’ comments and assured the public that Eight FM would continue to uphold professional and responsible broadcasting content in the future.

“We sincerely apologize for any discomfort or dissatisfaction this incident may have caused and appreciate our listeners’ attention and feedback.
Moving forward, Eight FM will continue to uphold journalistic ethics and remain committed to delivering professional, objective, and responsible broadcast content,” it wrote.
