A police officer was left deeply touched after discovering that two young brothers had been faithfully saluting him every time his motorcycle passed their home, even during a light drizzle.
The officer, Corporal Wan Mohd Faizal Wan Azman, from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department at the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters, said he never expected such a gesture from the children, let alone that it would happen consistently.
Waited outside their home for him
The heartwarming moment recently went viral after Wan Mohd Faizal shared a video on TikTok.
The clip showed two brothers, aged seven and four, standing outside their home in Kampung Meranti, Pasir Mas, waiting patiently to salute him as he rode past.
In the video, the boys could be seen standing by the roadside, raising their hands in a respectful salute as the police escort motorcycle approached.
Despite the light rain at the time, the siblings remained undeterred.
Waiting in the rain
Moved by their behaviour, Wan Mohd Faizal stopped his motorcycle and invited the children to come closer.
One of the boys beamed with excitement when he was allowed to sit briefly on the large motorcycle, clearly thrilled by the experience. Before the officer left, the children also took the opportunity to shake his hand.
“Even though it was raining today, they still came out to salute Abam Ja. These two siblings are truly loyal.” he wrote in the caption, adding that he was able to stop that day as his duties were not too hectic.
He also shared that while the older child was eager to sit on the motorcycle, the younger one ran off shyly, feeling a little afraid.
Doing this for the past three months
Speaking to Sinar Harian, Wan Mohd Faizal revealed that the two brothers had been doing this for the past three months.
According to him, they would rush to the roadside every time they heard the distinctive sound of his high-powered motorcycle engine.
He explained that the children seemed to recognise the sound of the escort motorcycle he uses when accompanying official vehicles belonging to Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.
“They usually come out around 5pm to 6pm. Every time I pass by, they stand and salute. I noticed it quite some time ago, but I never stopped because of safety concerns and work procedures,” he said.
However, on that particular day, his lighter schedule allowed him to pause briefly and acknowledge the children who had been waiting so eagerly.
I was truly touched by their sincerity, so I decided to stop for a moment to greet them.”
The video has since drawn praise from netizens, many of whom described the moment as a reminder of the simple respect and admiration children can have for those they see as everyday heroes.
