A video showing the rehearsal for the upcoming Merdeka celebration parade in Putrajaya has quickly gone viral, sparking discussions about when and how to get there on Merdeka Day.
The video posted by Xiaohongshu user “来自吉隆坡的小骑士 ” has gained significant attention, attracting widespread discussion about the preparations for the national event.
Rehearsal performances
In the footage, various groups can be seen rehearsing their performances, including army personnel, officers, and other performers.
The video captures the synchronized and rhythmic marching of the army men and women, alongside officers moving in perfect unison. A marching wind band, is also seen performing while playing music, adding a festive and patriotic atmosphere to the scene.
The rehearsal involved a wide range of departments and military vehicles, including fire trucks, tanks, and army trucks, showcasing the extensive preparations for the parade.
Dragon and Lion Flag Performance
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the video owner shared that this was one of the rehearsals for the Merdeka celebration, which began at 8 a.m.
He also revealed that the final official rehearsal is scheduled for tomorrow, 29 August.
The user, who is actually one of the performers, explained that he is representing the “Dragon and Lion Flag (龙狮大旗文化)” group, which features traditional cultural performances such as lion dance (舞狮), dragon dance (舞龙), and the flag dance (举大旗).
“This is the first time our team has been invited to perform at the Merdeka celebration, and I am deeply honored to be part of such an important event,” he said.
“We have been working very hard to promote and raise awareness of our cultural performances, and I believe our efforts have finally been recognized after collaborating with JPNN.”
