Malaysia has officially secured its spot as one of the most powerful passports in the world after placing third in the 2025 Global Passport Index Ranking.
The Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) revealed the achievement on its social media platforms, calling it a reflection of global confidence in the security and quality of Malaysia’s travel documents.
The department added that Malaysia’s strong international reputation has contributed to this rise in ranking.

According to JIM, Malaysian passport holders can travel visa free to 121 countries, which contributes to a total mobility score of 174 destinations when including visa on arrival and electronic travel authorisation access.
Transitioning to the official data, the Passport Index website shows that Malaysia shares the third place Passport Power Rank with 15 other influential countries such as Germany, France and South Korea. The United Arab Emirates leads at number one, while Singapore and Spain are tied in second place.

Based on the 2025 dashboard, the Malaysian passport’s strength is supported by several key metrics:
- Visa free access: 121 countries
