National Service Training Programme (PLKN) has always been a topic that divides Malaysians. Some say it builds character and discipline, while others call it unnecessary.
But a viral note from a trainee’s parents has sparked fresh discussion after they claimed the programme “returned a real man” to them.
Recently, trainees under PLKN 3.0 completed their training, which began on Sept 7. During the passing-out parade, a heartfelt message from one trainee’s parents caught nationwide attention after it was shared on PLKN’s official Facebook page.

Attached along with a gift for Team Alpha trainers, the handwritten note expressed deep gratitude to those who had guided their son throughout the programme.
To the trainers of Team Alpha, we sent you a boy. You returned a real man to us. Thank you for all your hard work and sacrifices.”
The emotional note immediately went viral, with many Malaysians praising the dedication of PLKN trainers who are often tasked with shaping young people through discipline, routine and physical training.

The PLKN 3.0 passing-out parade was held simultaneously at two camps, where 642 trainees; 340 men and 302 women successfully completed the programme.
Female trainees graduated at Kem Rejimen 515 Askar Wataniah, while male trainees marched at Kem Rejimen 505 Askar Wataniah in Pekan, Pahang.
