A pair of parents recently made headlines after they called the police — not because of an emergency, but to ask officers to help warn their son about spending too much time on his mobile phone.
Parents approach on-duty policeman for help
According to a video posted by the Facebook page Penang Kini last night, the parents were seen stopping their car by the roadside and approaching two on-duty policemen, asking them to advise their child to cut down on phone use.
Usually, it’s the police who tell people to stop by the roadside — but this time, the parents were the ones who stopped and called the police over instead.” the post humorously wrote.
In the video, the father explained that his son’s dream was to become a police officer one day, but he had grown increasingly addicted to his phone.
Upon hearing this, one of the policemen asked the child whether he disliked studying, to which the father quickly replied,
He’s actually very good at studying, just too obsessed with his phone.”
From the footage, the boy appeared startled and even started crying inside the car. The officer then gently instructed him to apologise to his parents.
