It is school reopening day again, and parents, out of love for their children, are understandably concerned.
A series of viral videos have surfaced showing parents peeking into classrooms and waiting outside as their children settle into school.
Crowd of parents gathered outside classroom
One particular clip on TikTok shows a crowd of parents gathered outside a classroom, watching their children during an orientation session.
In the video, the crowd of parents is seen either standing or walking around the outdoor badminton court area outside the classroom, with most of them continuously looking into the classroom for their children.

The person recording the video suggested that the school principal was preparing to ask them to leave.
In a follow-up video, the uploader confirmed that the principal had indeed instructed the parents to move away, allowing teachers to properly engage with the students.

Netizens’ reaction
The videos have sparked widespread discussion across social media, with many netizens criticizing the trend of parents hovering outside classrooms.
Many argued that this behavior could disrupt the children’s focus and hinder their ability to gain independence and confidence.
“It’s better for parents to drop off their kids and leave immediately. Otherwise, the kids will just want to cry even more 😔. Teach them to be independent.”

Some also pointed out that excessive parental presence might interfere with the bonding process between students and teachers, making it harder for first-year students to adapt to their new environment.
“As a teacher, I’m stressed seeing parents waiting around… This is because the children will become even sadder and cry more… So please understand the feelings of your child’s teachers… We also feel pressured when parents act like this.”

Of course, Netizens also took the chance to make fun of the situation.
“I suggest that the school prepare a class for parents like this… 😂😂😂”

“These dads just want to look at the teachers, actually.”
