According to the nurse, the elderly man shared that he has no family to care for him. His wife had passed away due to diabetes, and he has lost contact with his child, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
The elderly man, who is a former soldier, is blind and has lost a leg to diabetes complications.
In a video uploaded by the nurse, he can be seen carefully opening the patient’s meal container, preparing the food, and feeding the elderly man with patience and care.
He even commented on the hospital’s sambal, playfully saying it looked delicious, in an effort to encourage the patient to eat.
The video also shows the nurse chatting with the patient, calling him “soldier” as a term of respect for his service.
The video quickly went viral, with many commenters expressing their emotions and sharing similar experiences.

The patient had married an Indonesian woman while stationed in Sabah during his military service.
Unfortunately, his wife succumbed to diabetes, leaving him alone.
