M’sian Mum Shocked By Half Cup Of Gummies Sold For RM29 At Funfair

Sugar-coated bullet for the wallet.
You expect carnival games and overpriced snacks at a funfair, but RM29 for just half a cup of loose candy? That’s next-level.

One Malaysian mum recently took to social media to share her unexpected “sweet assassin” moment after she was slapped with a RM29 bill for some candy her child picked out.

And no, it wasn’t some fancy imported chocolate — just regular soft sweets from a self-service stall.

In the caption, she simple wrote: “Paid RM29 with tears in my eyes.”

The mother shared in the comment section that the incident happened at a local funfair.

For her child, she had scooped a small amount of candy, about half a cup, before handing it over to the vendor to weigh. That’s when the total amount rang up to RM29.

There was a sign saying it was RM7 per 100g, but I wasn’t aware at the time,” she said.

Still feeling uneasy, she went home and weighed it herself. Including the cup, it came up to around 400g, confirming that the stall’s pricing was indeed accurate.

“This price is really too much! Luckily we didn’t take more, or I would’ve cried even harder,” she added.

Netizens shocked too

Netizens were quick to share their thoughts on just how absurd it felt anyway.

One person who knew the place warned about hygiene.

‘You still dare to buy that? The candy isn’t even covered, so many people are crowding around, talking with their saliva probably flying in. And there  were kids with dirty hands touching everything and putting the sweets back!”

“Buying things based on its weight is dangerous. You’ll always end up taking more than you think.”

“Never buy candy that’s sold by weight. It’s crazy expensive. They charge per 100g!”

Lesson of the day? Check the price per 100g before scooping — or risk getting sweet-talked into an expensive surprise.
