For many working parents, sending their child to a babysitter requires a great deal of trust and faith that their little one will be well cared for while they are away earning a living.
However, one Malaysian mother said her heart was shattered after discovering what was allegedly happening to her baby at the babysitter’s house when she was not around.
According to mStar, she shared the experience in a post on Threads, explaining that the truth only came to light after a neighbour of the babysitter approached her one day.
Neighbour stopped her car to exchange phone numbers
According to the woman, her child used to be cared for by a babysitter until a neighbour of the babysitter stopped her car one day and asked to exchange phone numbers.
Back then my child was under a babysitter’s care. One day the babysitter’s neighbour stopped my car and asked me to contact her on WhatsApp,” she wrote.

The neighbour later revealed that she felt sorry hearing the baby crying every day without being comforted, which prompted her to inform the mother.
Apparently she pitied my child because she could hear him crying loudly every day without anyone soothing him, so she decided to tell me,” the woman shared.

Video and audio recordings captured
What shocked the mother even more was that the neighbour also provided video and audio recordings.
In the recordings, the woman said she could clearly hear her baby crying continuously along with the voices of several other children believed to be in the same house.
According to her, the crying allegedly went on for around 40 minutes without anyone trying to comfort the child.

She admitted that she could barely bring herself to listen to the recordings because hearing her baby cry so clearly was too painful.
I really couldn’t bear listening to him cry. You can clearly hear my child’s voice in the video and audio. You can hear other children too,” she said.
Parents immediately removed baby from babysitter
Following the revelation, the woman said her husband decided to immediately stop sending their child to the babysitter the very next day.
Their child has since been enrolled in a childcare centre instead.
She added that the situation was particularly heartbreaking for working parents who rely on caregivers to look after their children.
We entrust our children to someone else with the hope that they are sent there safely and brought home safely. How can someone betray that trust?” she wrote.
The mother also pointed out that babies crying is normal behaviour, but leaving them unattended is not.
Babies crying is normal. What’s not normal is leaving them crying without comforting them, and then getting angry at them for crying. They are babies. They don’t even have reasoning yet. We are the adults who should know better,” she added.
