A couple in Puncak Alam who had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child were instead met with unimaginable grief when the mother unexpectedly went into labour at home and delivered a breech baby in the bathroom.
The newborn boy did not survive.
The incident took place on Nov 19 and was first shared on the Facebook page Mr Wan Cai Official, as reported by Kosmo.
Wife suddenly experiences labour pains
According to the post, the ordeal began at around 5.40pm. The wife, who had been resting, suddenly felt intense abdominal pain — a sign that she was about to give birth.
Her husband immediately dialed the 999 emergency hotline for an ambulance. The post stated that the husband’s first call to 999 allegedly went unanswered.
Growing increasingly anxious as his wife’s condition worsened, he kept redialling the hotline.
Although one call eventually connected, it was reportedly cut off within seconds. Fearing for his wife’s safety, he rushed to the bathroom after hearing her struggle.
Wife delivers breech baby at home
His wife had gone into the bathroom as her contractions intensified. When the man entered the bathroom, he found her in an extremely weak state.
The baby was in a breech position, a high-risk situation where the lower body emerges first — a condition that typically requires urgent medical assistance.
The man supported the baby as he waited desperately for help, knowing he could not pull the baby out or intervene without proper guidance.
With great effort and in significant distress, his wife eventually managed to deliver the baby fully.
Newborn unresponsive
The man eventually managed to reconnect with emergency services and was transferred to a medical operator.
Under the operator’s instructions, he performed CPR on the newborn. However, the baby showed no signs of response.
When paramedics arrived, they confirmed that the infant had passed away.
The mother and baby were then transported to Hospital UiTM Puncak Alam for further procedures, including a post-mortem.
Baby laid to rest, parents overwhelmed with grief
According to the post, the baby boy was named Muhammad Amir Faris. The father personally carried out the final washing ritual for his son before burial.
The infant was laid to rest at the Selat Klang Islamic Cemetery after noon prayers.
A detail from the post particularly moved readers: after the burial, the grieving mother slowly approached her baby’s small grave and whispered quietly, “Forgive me,” a moment that left everyone present in tears.
What should have been a joyous milestone for the couple ended in heartbreak.
The passing of their “little angel”, as the post described, has left a profound void in the hearts of both parents.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the family’s claims about the 999 hotline.
