Now that the new school year has officially begun, parents are stressing over getting new uniforms and school books for their kids, which has placed a financial strain on some.
A mother recently received brickbats from netizens following her request for netizens to chip in and help pay off her children’s school fees — one which led to widespread outrage.
‘Can help pay?’
The mother took to a Facebook group to make her request, where she wrote the following caption:
“Is it possible to claim the school fees for my children? If anyone is willing to reimburse it, I’ll include my QR code in the comments. Thank you, kindhearted people.”

She also attached a photo of her children’s school fees, where it featured several written receipts that amounted to hundreds of Ringgit.
‘Why should we do it?!’
The post soon found its way to Threads, where the OP sarcastically said that the mum’s request was an example of how begging had evolved in modern times.

Netizens also had some harsh words for the mother and called her out for her lack of responsibility.
‘You have a pretty face…take care of your own children lah. Why must claim from other people?’

‘Go find a job!’

‘You’re the one who had the kids, and suddenly you want to claim money for school fees. Are they your kids or mine? Shameless behaviour.’
