A mother living on an island shared an emotional story about her 9-year-old son, who now boards at school during the weekdays to avoid the exhausting daily boat commute.
In a heartfelt video posted on TikTok, the mother, known as @mommysaurus88, revealed that she made the painful decision to send her son to a boarding school because the daily travel to the mainland for school was too tiring.
Mummy is sorry, you should be at home at this age
The clip showed the boy on his first day in the dormitory, with a simple but neatly arranged room, capturing the bittersweet moment of his transition to school life.

While many children his age would still be living at home, his mother felt that sending him to a boarding school was the best choice for his education and future.
“I’m so sorry. I never wanted to send you away, but I had no other choice,” she wrote.
Living on Tioman Island, the family would have to endure a long and tiring daily boat commute if they wanted to keep him at home while sending him to school.
Faced with the reality of their situation, the mother decided that boarding school was the most practical option.
However, she still misses her son dearly and worries about how he will adjust.
“Maybe he will struggle in his first week, but he’s a strong boy, and I believe he will be okay,” she wrote.
She also asked others to keep both her and her son in their thoughts.
Emotional weekend reunions
On weekends, the family reunites as they travel to fetch him home.
In a touching moment captured in the video, the boy was seen tearing up when he saw his family visit him at school.

While some netizens felt he was still too young to live away from home, others understood that, given the family’s circumstances, this was the best decision for his future.
