M’sian Mom Praised For Reusing Plastic Bags To Wrap Textbooks

Sustainable way.
We all know the struggle of wrapping school textbooks when the new term starts. Instead of buying new book covers, one Malaysian mom found an eco-friendly and budget-friendly hack—recycling transparent plastic bags to wrap her kids’ books.

Her idea quickly caught the attention of netizens, with many calling it a win-win solution for both the environment and their wallets.

Turning ‘trash’ into treasure

TikTok user @chentaharis93 shared a video showing how she reused plastic bags to wrap her child’s schoolbooks instead of buying new ones.

Speaking to WeirdKaya, she shared that it was her first time using plastic bags to wrap textbooks and the reason behind her initiative.

“Honestly, the plastic bags were going to be thrown away, but I saw that they were still in good condition.

At the same time, my kids’ schoolbooks needed wrapping, and with the rising cost of everything, I figured, why not just use these?” she explained.

Chenta Haris also pointed out that these clear plastic bags are pretty durable and don’t tear easily, making them perfect for protecting textbooks.

Plus, the money she saves goes towards something more important—her children’s medical needs.

Even though we received some school assistance, I still had to buy books and pay fees. Since my children need medical treatment, any savings help.”

Netizens Join the ‘Book Cover Revolution’

The video quickly went viral, and netizens were all for it. Many praised her creativity and even jumped on the trend, using spare plastic bags at home to wrap their children’s books.

Some even took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, recalling how their parents used newspapers to cover their books back in the day.

Chenta Haris told WeirdKaya that she was thankful to the netizens’ kind response.

Some said they used to wrap their books the same way using newspapers and other materials just like how I did it using newspaper during my school time,” the mother shared.

It’s The Small Things That Matter

Many netizens pointed out that being environmentally friendly doesn’t always mean making big sacrifices. Sometimes, a simple, creative solution can make a huge difference.

With more people now rethinking waste and giving plastic bags a second life, this Malaysian mother may have just sparked a new trend—and netizens are loving it.
