Yesterday, we reported of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato’ Seri Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, getting caught in the act of smoking at an eatery in Negeri Sembilan.
Following that, netizens were in uproar and demanded that action be taken against him for breaking the Tobacco Control for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852).

M’sian minister to be slapped with a fine for smoking
In response to the issue, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad wrote in an X post that Hasan will be issued a violation notice and a fine for smoking.
“The foreign minister’s office had been informed of the situation and an officer from the Seremban District Health Office will hand him (Hasan) a notice later in the day ordering him to pay the fine.
“In addition, Hasan himself personally requested the Ministry of Health (MOH) to issue the fine and confirmed that the payment would be made,” he said.

In the comment section, netizens praised Dzulkefly for not practicing double standards in the matter and holding Hasan accountable for his mistake.


Meanwhile, some also urged the MOH to be more consistent in enforcing the rules as many still flouted it openly.
