A total of four vehicles found themselves getting caught in a chain collision after one of the drivers was reportedly using a navigation app while on the road.
As a result of the crash, two individuals sustained injuries but fortunately are in a stable condition.
M’sian man uses Waze while driving, causes collision
In a statement by Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, he said the incident occurred at 4.15pm on the Sungai Besi Expressway on Tuesday (July 15), reported Sin Chew Daily.
He added preliminary investigations revealed that a 33-year-old man was driving a white Toyota Mark X on the right lane.
The driver, who was using the Waze navigation app on his phone, got distracted and lost control of the vehicle. He then crashed into the central divider before rear-ending a Perodua Myvi in the middle lane.

“The impact caused the airbags to deploy, blocking the Toyota Mark X driver’s vision and causing the car to swerve into the left lane, where it collided with a motorcycle and a Honda BR-V,” he said.
A viral clip of the incident showed the motorcyclists, both the rider and pillion rider, getting thrown off due to the collision.

Motorcyclists treated for injuries
Zamzuri said the motorcyclists are now receiving treatment in the Yellow Zone of Serdang Hospital and are in a stable condition.
As for the Toyota Mark X driver, he tested negative for drugs and alcohol following a urine and alcohol screening test.
The case is being probed under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving, which carries up to five years’ imprisonment and a fine between RM5,000 to RM15,000, upon conviction.
