Family members will always do anything in their power to bring an erring member back onto the right path, but sometimes it can prove to be insufficient or futile.
An elderly man had no choice but to hand his grandson over to the authorities in hopes of turning his life around after the latter couldn’t give up his drug-fuelled lifestyle despite multiple pleas.
Addicted to drugs for years
In a Facebook post by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) Kuala Muda District, it wrote of a heartbreaking story told to them by an elderly couple.
According to them, they were at a loss over what to do with their grandson, who was in his early 30s and had a severe drug addiction.

Despite the couple’s countless pleas, the young man continued to use drugs and further pushed himself closer to the point of no return.
Called police to arrest grandson
Left with no option, the old man eventually contacted police and asked them to arrest his grandson.
He even told police to charge his grandson under Section 39C of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1953, which carries heavier punishments for repeat offenders.
Done out of love
The post also mentioned that the elderly couple couldn’t help but tear up when recounting how he had to turn their grandson, whom they had cared for since childhood, over to police.

“They don’t know where things went wrong for their grandson to turn out this way as they had showered him with all of their love.
“The grandfather said it would be better for his grandson to be detained a bit longer — not because he wants to abandon him, but because he hopes to see him change for the better.”
The post also urged the public to reserve judgment on the incident and encouraged those who have trouble dealing with family members with a drug addiction to seek help immediately.
We hope the young man will be able to turn over a new leaf and be a better person soon!
