At most kopitiams (coffee shops), patrons are usually not allowed to bring their furry pets along due to religious sensitivities or the fact that a huge mess might be left behind.
A woman took to social media to share how she told off a man who brought his pet dog to a kopitiam in Serdang, only to be threatened with physical harm as a result.
M’sian man threatens to hit woman over confrontation
In a Facebook post shared to the group 沙登吹水站 on Monday (Mar 24), the OP recounted the incident that took place at a kopitiam in Serdang.
Along with the post was a photo of a man pointing aggressively at the OP, while a young woman and a dog were seated at the same table as him.

According to the caption, the OP wrote the reason she confronted the man for bringing his pet dog into the eatery and letting it sit on the chair was because she felt what he did was inconsiderate.
The pet’s fur and saliva could contaminate the dining area. Some customers might even be allergic to pet hair or dander, causing discomfort especially for children.
“Moreover, have they considered that some customers might feel fearful or uneasy around dogs?” she asked.
But when the OP told the man about it, she claimed he got extremely angry and began swearing at her, even threatening to hit her with a plastic chair.
Divided opinions
In the comment section, there were dividing opinions by netizens over the matter, sparking a debate over whether it was okay for owners to bring their pets to eateries.
Some agreed with the OP, saying that the man had indeed acted selfishly without considering the feelings of other customers.
‘Nowadays pets are even more spoilt than humans. (Their owners) only care about their own feelings but not others.’

‘Chairs are meant for humans, not dogs. What makes him think the eatery belongs to him?’

On the other hand, some felt that the OP was overreacting, with one sarcastically telling her to stay at home so that she doesn’t have to come in contact with viruses caused by polluted air.

Another said that it wasn’t an issue as long as eatery owners are okay with pets being present at their premises or owners keeping their pets inside strollers.
