Falling in love is easy, but staying committed to your partner for life is one of the hardest things to do — one which all married couples can attest to.
A local man recently spilled his guts in an anonymous confession about how he gave the oft-used lie to his wife and the overwhelming guilt which came after, leading him to profess his love via a text message.
Lied to wife about going on business trip
In the confession posted on XUAN’s Facebook page, the man wrote that he told his wife that he would be off for a business trip.
Thinking nothing more of it, his wife simply reminded him to stay safe. However, little did she know he would later spend the night in the arms of another woman.
After indulging himself in the illicit moment, the man fell asleep and woke up in the middle of the night, where he felt a huge wave of guilt crash over him.
At that moment, I suddenly thought of my wife and sent her a message saying, ‘I love you’“, he recounted.
Overcompensating out of guilt?
The next morning, the man’s wife asked him why he sent the text message out of the blue. He then replied: “I’ve been away on a business trip for so long, I miss you.”
Following the moment of epiphany, the man said he began to lavish lots of attention on his wife by checking on her constantly and posting happy photos of them on social media.
But deep inside, he was being gnawed away by guilt and the fact that he couldn’t let go of the other woman.
“Being with the mistress was thrilling. Once, we were in the car and I was on the phone with my wife while she was right beside me.
At that moment, a thought flashed through my mind: why can’t my wife be like her?
“I know this is wrong. But I truly felt that if everything at home were stable and there was love and intimacy in my marriage, maybe I wouldn’t have gone down the wrong path,” he said.

Netizens didn’t take too kindly to the post, with many calling out the man for failing to take responsibility for his infidelity.
‘Stop making excuses over your failure to keep it within your pants. And don’t even try to blame the other party too.’
‘Wow, even after the affair you still have the gall to blame it on the lack of warmth and love in your family? Why can’t you just own up to your scummy behaviour?’
‘I hope your wife finds out about this and you’ll truly know what karma is when you grow old. Very soon you’ll see that your wife will begin to shun you.’
