Unexpected switch shocks restaurant owner
In a video uploaded on TikTok, the OP named Afeef Hamizan is seen making his way towards the counter to make payment after finishing his meal.
He first begins his conversation with the owner in Malay and when asked what was his table number, he switches smoothly into Mandarin as a wide grin emerges on his face.
The restaurant owner was visibly surprised and lets out an amused reaction, while Afeef smiles casually and continues talking, showing his confidence in the language.
After the initial surprise, both parties start chatting comfortably in Mandarin, where they spoke briefly about Sabah and Afeef’s interest in visiting the state.
In the end, the restaurant owner even gave him a discount on his total bill—just for speaking fluent Mandarin!
