They say never judge a book by its cover, but what about judging a voice by its face?
On TikTok, where the unexpected is the norm, one man managed to flip everyone’s expectations upside down.
It’s part of a growing trend where people show how they defy first impressions—be it mismatched aesthetics, unexpected talents, or, in this case, a voice that could stop Elvis himself in his tracks.
M’sian man surprises crowd with Elvis-like voice
The video, now blowing up on TikTok, came with the caption: “POV: Your voice doesn’t suit your face.”

And trust us, the contrast was chef’s kiss. Inspired by trends like “POV: When your work doesn’t match your aesthetic,” this one takes the prize for unexpected plot twists.
It starts off simple: guy, mirror, casual Gen Z vibes—you know the drill.
Maybe you expect some lo-fi rap or a trendy TikTok dance. But, no. This man went straight for the jugular with Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

The moment he crooned “Wise men say…” the crowd lost its mind.
Even better, the woman sitting next to him? She was NOT ready.

One second, she’s minding her own business—maybe texting, maybe doomscrolling—and the next, her head snaps up, fully shook by this Elvis-in-disguise moment.
‘My usual speaking voice isn’t as deep as my singing voice‘
WeirdKaya reached out to the star of the show—Ling—to get the inside scoop. He shared that the performance took place at Kuching Fairland Hidden Bar during the WAK Festival on October 18.
When asked whether this kind of reaction is something he encounters often, Ling said:
“Yeah, a LOT actually, because my usual speaking voice isn’t as deep as my singing voice.”
As for why he decided to sing at the open mic event, Ling revealed:
“It was part of the WAK Festival. You can find more details on @aboutkuching on Instagram. My friends encouraged me to join the open mic night, which was organized by Reening Lau.”
The comment section on TikTok didn’t disappoint either. People were just as stunned as the live audience:
- “The way my jaw dropped…”

- “Whoa, I was shocked!”

- “His voice sounds like those classic gentlemen singing on a vintage stage.”
