Two lives were tragically lost in a single day after a man in Melaka suffered a heart attack and inadvertently suffocated his three-month-old baby boy, who was pinned underneath his arm at the time.
According to a report by Kosmo, the incident took place at Kampung Perigi Hang Tuah yesterday morning (June 19).
M’sian man suffers heart attack while at home
Speaking to the Malay daily, the victim’s wife Azura Abdul Malik, said her husband Nurul Efendy Ibrahim, was found unconscious with their infant child underneath his arm when she returned home at 9.30am.
“I was shocked when I entered the house and saw my husband and our baby unconscious and immediately contacted the hospital for assistance.

“My husband was later confirmed to have died at the scene while our child was still alive but in a weak condition. He subsequently died at the hospital while receiving treatment,” she said.
Azura added the family is still waiting for the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death for both her husband and their baby.
Had previously complained of chest pains
Meanwhile, the victim’s sister Masturadiana Ibrahim said her brother had previously experienced chest pains but refused to seek treatment despite his wife urging him to do so.
“My brother was healthy all this while and never did a checkup for his heart. I never expected things would become the way they did,” she said.

Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said initial investigations found no signs of foul play or injuries on the victims’ bodies and the case has been classified as sudden death (SDR).
