A Malaysian man has sparked widespread debate online after sharing an incident at a petrol station, where he confronted two individuals who attempted to enter the women’s restroom while his wife was inside.
In a social media post, the man said he was waiting outside the women’s toilet when the incident occurred.
“I was at a petrol station earlier. My wife went into the toilet and I waited outside,” he wrote.
“Suddenly, two individuals dressed like women tried to enter the women’s restroom while my wife was still inside.”
Concerned, he said he immediately stepped in to stop them.
“I told them firmly not to go in. My wife is inside. If you need to use the toilet, go to the men’s restroom,” he said.
According to him, the two individuals appeared unhappy after being confronted and spoke among themselves in Thai before leaving the area.
“They looked dissatisfied and started muttering in Thai. After that, they left and didn’t go into the toilet,” he wrote.
‘Public toilets are no longer safe’

The man went on to express frustration over what he described as safety concerns in public spaces, especially restrooms.
“What kind of situation is this Malaysia has come to? Even going to the toilet is no longer safe for women,” he said, adding that public spaces now feel unsafe for everyone.
His post also included aggressive remarks about being prepared to physically defend the situation, which later drew criticism from some netizens.
Netizens react with mixed opinions
The post quickly gained traction online, with netizens offering mixed reactions.

Some supported the man’s actions, praising him for being alert and protective.
“I feel proud because you were aware of your surroundings instead of just looking at your phone. It shows how much you care about your wife,” one commenter wrote.
Another said his actions were necessary regardless of whether his wife had already exited the restroom.
“Even if your wife had already come out, you should still stop them because there could be other women or young girls inside,” the comment read.
Others raised safety concerns, questioning how such situations could potentially be abused.
“What if someone pretends to be transgender but is actually a man, and then sexually assaults women inside the toilet?” one netizen asked.
However, several commenters criticised the man’s tone and language, pointing out that his post contained offensive remarks and generalisations.
Some stressed that a person’s appearance or gender identity should not automatically be associated with criminal behaviour, warning that fear-based assumptions could lead to discrimination or unnecessary escalation.
At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation of a police report being lodged, and the exact location of the incident remains unclear.
