Thus, you could imagine one man’s horror when he saw a rat that wasn’t just dead, but its corpse in the process of decomposition inside a trolley.

In a Threads post by @syafiqsyahan, he expressed disgust over the less than pleasant discovery and chided the supermarket for its lack of cleanliness.
To the supermarket owners in Semenyih, please do a full overhaul of the premise. The trolleys are grimy, there’s a dried rat carcass inside one that nobody cares about, and the floor is full of rat droppings like it’s never been cleaned.
“This is where food is placed, you know. It’s dangerous!” he exclaimed.
@syafiqsyahan also posted a close-up photo of the dead rat, where its body had shrivelled up to the point where its backbone was clearly visible.
In the comment section, netizens were repulsed by the OP’s discovery, with one claiming that the supermarket long had a notorious reputation for its poor hygiene.
Another urged the OP to lodge a complaint with the health authorities.
Supermarket cleans up
To its credit, the supermarket responded swiftly to the incident and reached out to the OP, where it apologised for the rat carcass and promised not to let it repeat in the future.
It also shared a photo of its workers cleaning up the trolley area.
