There is nothing more precious to a man than seeing his wife regain her health.
For Ahmad Hamada Ayueman, 29, that hope is what keeps him going, even as he sells off everything he owns to pay for his wife’s medical treatment.
His wife, Siti Nuraifat Bueraheng, 25, fondly known as Aifat, has been battling stage four knee soft tissue sarcoma cancer since last year.

Don’t like being in debt
Ahmad told Kosmo! that he made the difficult decision to sell his personal belongings one by one, including gold, just to cover the rising medical costs.
“I don’t like being in debt. So I sold whatever I had, including gold. Now, I’m trying to sell my BMW E90 to support my beloved wife’s treatment,” he shared.
Started with a small swelling after a motorcycle accident
According to Ahmad, Aifat’s ordeal began back in 2021, after she was involved in a motorcycle accident, a year before they got married.
At first, it looked normal. The X-ray showed no fractures or cracks. Aifat is a strong person, so she only went for massages. But over time, the swelling became bigger and more painful,” he said.
After they got married, Ahmad grew increasingly worried and brought his wife to a private hospital. However, doctors were still unable to identify the cause of the swelling.
It was only after further examinations at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) that doctors confirmed Aifat had cancer.

Medical costs reach tens of thousands of ringgit
Since then, the cost of treatment has climbed into the tens of thousands of ringgit, covering knee surgery, MRI scans, and even daily necessities such as disposable diapers.
Aifat’s condition keeps worsening and she has difficulty moving. I also had to quit my job at a restaurant to take care of her as she is bedridden,” Ahmad said.
Aifat was initially treated at HKL before being transferred to Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) last year.
Still no assistance despite multiple applications
Ahmad shared that he has applied for various forms of aid for cancer patients, including from the National Cancer Council, but so far, none have come through.
From the start of her treatment until her condition became critical, we haven’t received any help. I understand it might be because my wife is a foreigner from Thailand, but we have a legally recognised marriage certificate here,” he explained.
He added that Aifat also holds a four-year dependent spouse visa.
“I will not give up as long as she’s still breathing”
Now a father of two, Ahmad is appealing to the public for help, not just financially, but also for information on any other possible assistance channels.
I won’t give up as long as Aifat is still breathing,” he said.
Ahmad has also turned to social media to seek help, sharing his story online in hopes that someone may be able to offer assistance or point him towards other avenues of support.
