A 23-year-old man was seen driving around town while brandishing a replica firearm in Kuching, Sarawak, triggering fear among members of the public.
The bizarre incident was first brought to light in a video that went viral on social media, which led to police tracking the man down and arresting him.

According to China Press, the clip showed the man donning a white cap and sunglasses while waving the replica gun out from his car window at a traffic light near the Sarawak General Hospital.
Police then moved into action after receiving a report from the public regarding the incident and eventually arrested the man at a house located at Petra Jaya Sports Village.
The arrest was later confirmed by Sarawak Commissioner of Police, Dato Mancha Ata.
Further investigations found that the man had purchased an airsoft gun online.
For the uninitiated, an airsoft gun is a weapon that shoots small ball bearings using compressed air or gas, rather than bullets.
Such weapons are prohibited in Malaysia and offenders can be charged under Section 36 of the Arms Act, where they face up to one year’s imprisonment, a fine, or both if convicted, reported The Borneo Post.
