A Malaysian man has gone viral on Threads after ranting that hardworking taxpayers in the M40 group are left out of government subsidies while the B40 continue to receive various forms of assistance.
“Work from dark to dark but get nothing”
In his viral rant, the man claimed that hardworking taxpayers like him are constantly sidelined when it comes to government assistance.
He wrote:
We are taxpayers, working hard to earn more. Leave the house when it’s still dark, come home when it’s dark, end up paying so much in taxes but get no subsidies at all.”
He claimed that by the end of each month, B40 households would receive multiple forms of subsidies and assistance, which he felt was unfair.
The rest of his post further criticised how B40 households continue to enjoy aid while those in M40, despite paying higher taxes, often get nothing in return.

The post quickly gained traction, with many Malaysians weighing in.
Some sympathised with his frustration:
I totally understand what you’re saying. We work hard to achieve this, contribute to the nation, and yet didn’t get anything in return.”
Others echoed the feeling of being “caught in the middle”:
I’m M40 and always treated like a stepchild. Not really poor, not really rich either. Never got anything… only recently I managed to get the RM100 aid.”
But some disagreed and pushed back against his claims:
You already earn more than B40 and still complain? Many in B40 are struggling. Do you want low-income groups to pay taxes too? That’s small-minded.”
Another reminded that not all B40s have it easy:
“Hmm, that doesn’t sound right. Some B40 already pay taxes too. Don’t generalise. If we have high commitments but blame the government for not giving the same aid to M40, then don’t whine. Anyways, thanks to taxpayers, because of you, those who are really struggling can get benefits.”
