For many, home should be a sanctuary — a place of safety and love.
But for some, it’s a space where fear quietly lingers, and the scars left behind aren’t always visible.
Domestic abuse remains a painful reality for too many, often hidden behind closed doors. But every so often, it’s thrust into the public eye, forcing society to confront what some endure daily.
A heartbreaking scene caught on TikTok

This painful reality came to light recently when a TikTok live-stream accidentally captured a distressing moment of public domestic violence.
During what was meant to be a routine live car sales session at a supermarket, a woman was slapped by her husband in full view of onlookers.
The video has since gone viral, sparking outrage and concern across social media.
He slapped her across the face angrily in front bystanders
The livestream initially showed an ordinary scene — cars on display and shoppers moving about.
Then, a woman hurried toward the supermarket’s main entrance, glancing over her shoulder nervously. Her fear was unmistakable.
Moments later, a man, later identified as her husband, stormed toward her.
Without hesitation, he slapped her across the face, scolding her angrily in front of stunned bystanders. His frustration, it seemed, stemmed from not knowing where she was.
‘If he can do that in public, imagine her life at home’
Onlookers froze, caught between disbelief and horror. It didn’t take long for the video to spread online, where netizens voiced their outrage.
Many were furious at the husband for his brazen act, especially as he held a child in his arms.
Some pointed out the chilling dynamic at play — the woman’s visible fear and her helpless reaction sparked questions about the abuse she might face behind closed doors.
“If he’s brave enough to raise his hand like that in public, I can’t imagine what her life must be like at home every day.”

Suspect and victim being tracked
In a recent development, police have confirmed they are tracking the man caught slapping his wife in the viral video, reported NST.
Sepang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman stated that a report was lodged by the woman’s sister, who identified the victim as her 35-year-old sibling.
According to Norhizam, the incident occurred at a shopping mall in Kota Warisan.
Norhizam added that police are in the process of recording statements from witnesses while continuing efforts to locate both the suspect and the victim.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, which carries a penalty of up to one year of imprisonment, a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both.
It is also being probed under Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act, which covers offences involving domestic abuse.
Authorities have urged those with information to contact the investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent Mahafiz Mat Lawi, at 010-2396533.
