Gratitude is not always easy to come by when something valuable goes missing.
But for one Johor Bahru father, a simple act of honesty gave him every reason to be thankful.
Child’s missing MacBook found by kind family
Recently, a seafood supplier from Tebrau, Johor Bahru, shared how his child’s missing MacBook was successfully returned after being found by a kind family in Batu Pahat.
The man, known as Ah New, posted a video on TikTok via Ah New Fishery, explaining that he travelled to Batu Pahat to retrieve the laptop, which was valued at RM7,500.
According to him, the dark blue MacBook had been picked up by a family who went out of their way to locate the rightful owner.
Family used TikTok and GPS to trace the owner
Ah New explained that the family was unable to contact him directly as they did not have his phone number. Instead of keeping the laptop, they decided to post about the item on TikTok in the hope that the owner would come forward.
They couldn’t reach us, so we relied on the Global Positioning System to track the laptop until we arrived in Batu Pahat,” he said.
He added that the family deliberately switched on the laptop to make it easier for the owner to locate it, a gesture he described as thoughtful and sincere.
Seafood supplier expresses gratitude with kind gesture
Praising the family’s honesty and integrity, Ah New said he was deeply grateful for their actions.
As a token of appreciation, he invited them to visit his factory and offered to treat them to seafood. Both parties also exchanged phone numbers to stay in touch in the future.

The story drew widespread praise online, with many netizens highlighting that the incident was not about the value of the laptop, but the values shown by the family who found it.
One netizen commented, “This is not about seafood or business. This is about priceless family values.”
Another said the interaction reflected the kind of country Malaysians want to live in, writing, “This is the Malaysia we want to see.”
Others pointed out the importance of sincerity and good manners on both sides. One netizen shared, “Both parties showed courtesy and respect. Help should be appreciated sincerely, without expecting anything in return.”
