The restaurant, Nasi Kandar Sulaiman took to their Facebook to call out a customer who attempted to purchase a packet of Nasi Kandar valued at RM10 by offering a box of cigarettes as a substitute.
The shop owner shared this unusual encounter on social media, sparking widespread discussion about modern-day barter systems and consumer priorities.
The man, who lacked the money to pay for his meal, proposed the cigarette box exchange to the shop owner.
This unconventional offer has raised eyebrows and prompted questions about the customer’s ability to purchase cigarettes while being unable to afford basic necessities like food.
The shop owner expressed dissatisfaction with the man’s actions, pointing out the irony of the situation.
No money to buy food but can buy cigarettes. This makes us feel dissatisfied. Giving a box of cigarettes makes it seem like we smoke cigarettes.”
