M’sian Man Offered RM1mil To Get Woman Pregnant With His Sperm, Loses RM25k Instead

No happy ending.
What started out as a lucrative deal in impregnating a woman turned out to be a nightmare for a man who lost thousands of Ringgit to an online sperm donation scam.

The victim was 49-year-old Lee, who shared the sobering tale in a press conference yesterday (Sept 24).

According to The Star, Lee stumbled upon an online ad which featured the photo of a beautiful woman, prompting him to submit his personal information via an online form.

Not long after, a woman surnamed Chen contacted him on WhatsApp, where she claimed she was from Singapore and handed him the contact number of a “lawyer”.

In the press conference, Lee said Chen told him that the “lawyer” would only handle the negotiation process and that he would be given RM1 million as a reward if he successfully impregnated Chen.

He also said Chen falsely claimed that the sperm donation scheme would require him sleeping with her.

As to why I was ‘chosen’ to make her pregnant, I had exchanged photos with Chen and she told me that she was attracted by my mature and stable looks,” he added.

Cheated of RM25,000

Lee’s troubles began when Chen demanded a RM1,000 payment be made to the “lawyer”, saying that it was a “test” to see how sincere he was in holding his end of the bargain.

After he paid the RM1,000, Lee was given a contract which stated that he would receive an upfront payment of RM300,000 once he signed it within 48 hours and another RM700,000 once it was confirmed that he had gotten Chen pregnant.

However, the RM300,000 payment came with a catch — Lee would need to pay a “handling fee” of RM24,000 beforehand, an amount which he paid without hesitation.

When the “lawyer” demanded another RM30,000, Lee finally realised that he had fallen victim to a scam and immediately cut off all contact.

‘His lack of literacy was exploited’

MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong, who was also present at the press conference, said he believes the scammers were part of a local syndicate as they used  local legal firms as a facade.

This was later confirmed when Chong contacted the law firm involved in the scam, where it was revealed that Chen wasn’t their client and that the firm’s name had been misused.

Chong also said that the scammers had taken advantage of Lee’s poor literacy skills, where he failed to notice “the broken language in the agreement”.
