M’sian Man Makes His Date Pay RM140 Bill After Pretending To Forget Having Cash With Him

Sometimes it’s not just love that’s blind—our wallets can be too.
It’s normal, the early stages of dating—full of excitement, butterflies, and sometimes a bit of a financial “investment” from the guys.

Typically, men might pick up the tab, buy a little gift, or go the extra mile to impress. But Suhana Sanee’s recent first date took a turn that no one saw coming, giving us all a lesson in spotting financial red flags.

Suhana’s story, which has since gone viral, is a reminder that not all dates are dreamy. Her first outing with a new guy quickly turned into a cringeworthy tale of dodging the bill and dodgy excuses.

During their first date, Suhana and her date went out to eat. The man confidently ordered the most expensive items on the menu, leading Suhana to assume he would be paying.

Yet, when the bill arrived, he made no move to settle it. Confused, Suhana asked, “Are you paying? I’ll wait in the car.”

Cue the panic. He stammered, “Oh, I thought you were paying? I forgot to bring cash.”

Even when Suhana suggested he pay by card, he claimed his card had expired. Talk about a convenient excuse. In the end, Suhana had to fork out RM140, despite her meal being just RM40, while his extravagant choices racked up RM100.

He kept bragging about his high salary

The evening’s red flags didn’t stop there. Suhana had picked up her date from his mother’s house because he said his car was borrowed by his sibling. However, she couldn’t help but notice two cars parked at the house: a Toyota and a Mazda.

The cherry on top? After they got home, he had the nerve to ask to borrow RM50 for work expenses the next day.

That was the last straw for Suhana, who promptly blocked him. She was left wondering about his earlier boasts about a high salary and frequent business trips.

“He kept bragging about his high salary and all his business trips, saying he could buy anything with cash. But on our date, I had to pick him up, pay for the meal, and then he asked to borrow RM50. Where’s all that money he talked about? Such big talk,” she shared.

Suhana’s tale was shared by Azizul Azli Ahmad on Facebook and he reminds us all to be wary of financial red flags in dating. Suhana’s experience is a lesson in being cautious and not taking grand claims at face value. After all, sometimes it’s not just love that’s blind—our wallets can be too.
