‘I Was Her Husband For Only 2 Days’ — M’sian Man Mourns Losing Wife In Car Crash

Inconsolable loss.
A local man was looking forward to spending the rest of his life together with his wife after tying the knot.

Sadly, fate decided to give a cruel twist to their story in the form of him losing his wife in a car accident 48 hours later.

Blacked out while driving

Speaking to NST about the tragedy, Irfan Syabil Ibrahim said he and his wife, Nur Ain Izayu Rosli, got married on Jan 31 and registered their marriage at the Tanah Merah district religious office in Kelantan on Feb 2.

While returning from the religious office, Irfan said his wife mentioned that she wanted to rest during the journey as she was tired.

When entering the village area, my vision suddenly went dark. I felt faint, could not see anything before the car skidded and hit a concrete drain.

“I later regained consciousness and saw members of the public coming to our aid. My wife was vomiting blood and breathed heavily before going silent,” he recalled.

Irfan said he was completely helpless at the time as he was trapped in the car but hoped his wife would survive as he felt her pulse.

Died at the hospital

Irfan, who suffered a fractured left leg in the accident, said his wife unfortunately passed away upon arriving at the hospital’s Red Zone.

“At that moment, I could not describe my feelings as just two days ago we were happy and officially husband and wife.

I was only able to be her husband for two days. But I am grateful God gave me the chance, even briefly.”

As for the Pahang ceremony scheduled for Feb 15, it has been changed to a tahlil. Irfan also added that he’s still in Tanah Merah so he could visit his wife’s grave often.

A sign of things to come?

Irfan said he noticed several “unusual signs” before the wedding, such as his wife choosing to wear a certain colour during the nikah (solemnisation) ceremony.

“At the nikah, our theme was white. She chose everything, including clothes and henna. She once said after marriage she wanted to live away from family.

“At the time, I did not understand, but after the accident I felt it was a premonition of her departure,” he recounted.

Irfan said his wife had originally planned to live in Pahang after marriage and the both of them were looking forward to fasting and celebrating Aidilfitri as a couple.

“But God knows best. Though still grieving, I accept His decree,” he added.

Our condolences to Irfan for his loss.
