Driving can be stressful, but is it ever worth losing your humanity over it?
That’s the question many Malaysians are asking after a viral video showed a young motorcyclist threatening to punch an elderly man following a road accident.
“Just give it already!” — Youth loses temper after minor crash
In a video that recently made the rounds on Threads, a young man can be seen confronting an elderly driver believed to be involved in a minor accident with him.
The youth, dressed in a white shirt, appeared visibly agitated and was allegedly demanding the elderly man’s identification card.
I said give it, just give it already!” he shouted, showing no respect for the man’s age or composure.
He didn’t stop there.
The man began banging on the elderly driver’s Perodua Kancil, even causing one of the door visors to fall off.
At one point, it looked as though he might throw a punch.
Thankfully, several bystanders stepped in to defuse the situation before things escalated further.
“Even if he was wrong, show some respect”
The video, believed to have been filmed right after the accident occurred, sparked outrage online, not because of the crash, but the young man’s reaction.
The original poster captioned it:
Even if the uncle was in the wrong, there should still be basic respect for elders. Maybe he was just panicking after the accident.”
And netizens didn’t hold back their criticism either.
“What If That Was Your Own Father?”
As the video circulated, netizens wasted no time voicing their thoughts and most didn’t mince their words.
“What goes around comes around. Wait till you’re old. Karma will be 10 times worse.”
“Yes, maybe the uncle made a mistake. But speak politely lah. He could’ve been scared and confused, trying to recall what happened. No need to shout and act like a thug.”
Some even criticised the youth for recording and posting the video himself, thinking it would earn him sympathy.
“You record and post this like you’re the victim? You’re the one yelling like you’ve got no brain.”
Others imagined how it would feel if the elderly man had been their own father.
“If this was my dad, I’d track you down. There’s no excuse for treating the elderly like that, even if they were in the wrong.”
