The leaves were not for leisure but for urgent family matters:

  • Their baby was hospitalised three times due to illness
  • His mother passed away in Terengganu, which required him to take time off to attend to funeral arrangements
  • He tested positive for Covid-19 after contracting it from his late mother
  • Their 3-year-old child was also warded in the hospital

All of these emergencies forced him to apply for multiple emergency leaves during his probation period.

‘I just needed to let it out’

The wife explained that she only wanted to express her sadness and shock, and had no intention of blaming the company.

I never said we are victims, nor that the company should understand our situation. I just needed to let it out for my own peace of mind,” she wrote.

She added that she did not want people to judge either her family or the employer.

“If you don’t have anything good to say, please don’t say anything. Yes, we are Muslims, we have faith, and we believe that sustenance is determined by Allah — not us, not the company, not other people,” she added.
