A Malaysian man has taken further action after photos of his wife breastfeeding their baby on public transport were allegedly taken and shared online without her permission.
He gave those involved 24 hours to delete the posts
According to Kosmo!, the man, who goes by the username @amir.nafif on Threads, said several social media accounts had circulated photos showing his wife breastfeeding their baby and questioned her decision to do so in public.
After discovering the posts, Amir reportedly contacted those involved and gave them 24 hours to remove the content, warning that he would lodge a police report if they failed to do so.
He later claimed that he had obtained information linked to one of the accounts involved and said he intended to pursue legal action over the matter.
Says police report has been lodged
In an update shared on Aug 9, Amir said the posts had yet to be deleted and claimed that his wife had developed a fever and was shivering following the circulation of her photos online.
He subsequently announced that he had lodged a police report, but said he could not reveal further details as the matter was currently under investigation.
Amir also said he planned to take further action with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) once its office reopened, while reiterating his intention to pursue legal action against the individuals involved.
Netizens defend breastfeeding mother
The incident drew widespread attention online, with many social media users coming to the mother’s defence and saying that breastfeeding a hungry baby in public should not be treated as something unusual.
One user pointed out that babies need to be fed regardless of where their mothers happen to be, while another noted that she used a nursing cover.
At the time of writing, the reports cited did not include any response from the individuals accused of circulating the photos regarding Amir’s police report or his intention to take further action.
