We all know of someone who is currently going through tough financial situations and naturally, our first response is to offer any kind of help possible. Unfortunately, that act of kindness can sometimes backfire horribly.
A man found himself having to settle a RM100,000 debt which wrecked him financially after his friend failed to repay it on time and absconded, leaving him understandably bitter by the incident.

M’sian man left drowning in RM100K debt after friend fails to repay it
Speaking to Kosmo, the man, who only wanted to be known as Fahmi, said the fateful decision to come to his friend’s aid occurred 10 years ago.
According to the 38-year-old civil servant, Fahmi said his friend came to him begging for help in settling his business loans despite repeated warnings to repay them in a timely fashion.
I told him multiple times to clear the debts when the business made huge profits but he never did so. When he was in need of a loan, he turned up at my house and pleaded for help,” he recounted.
At his friend’s suggestion, Fahmi said he then applied for a RM100,000 loan in his capacity as a civil servant.

After the loan was approved, Fahmi’s friend paid RM800 a month for a period of six months before stopping completely. This ultimately led to the bank calling Fahmi to inform him that the repayments had fallen behind for months.
As a result of his friend’s irresponsibility, Fahmi is now stuck with the RM100,000 loan to his name and even found himself blacklisted.
Friend goes MIA
Fahmi told the Malay daily that his friend has since changed his number and is nowhere to be found. Though he tried looking for him, his friend’s family informed him that he had moved to KL after separating from his wife.
To add insult to injury, Fahmi allegedly saw his former friend flaunting his lavish lifestyle on social media.

My heart was brimming with hatred and my anger was boiling when I stumbled upon photos of him on social media holidaying overseas and purchasing branded goods.
“Currently, the loan has yet to be fully repaid and I’ve been forced to reschedule the loan repayment,” he said.
