A man has landed himself in jail for 30 months and fined RM1,500 after stealing a grass-cutting machine from the home of a former Menteri Besar in Kedah.

Reported by Kosmo!, the incident occurred in the early hours of 29 May at a residence in Taman Rakyat.
The man was caught after breaking into the home and making off with a grass-cutting machine.
He was later charged under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and theft.
Pleaded guilty but asked for leniency
During court proceedings, the accused pleaded guilty to the offence and appealed for a lighter sentence.
He said he was struggling financially, had no stable income, and needed to support his wife and elderly parents.
However, the prosecution objected to leniency, pointing out that this was not his first offence and that he already had a criminal record.
The court imposed a 30-month prison sentence along with a RM1,500 fine. If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to serve an additional six months behind bars.
