A heartwarming act of kindness from a stranger has touched many after a Malaysian couple shared how they were helped by an “abang” who stopped to assist them when their car suffered a flat tyre in the middle of the night.
The story was shared on Xiaohongshu, where the netizen recounted a frightening late-night experience that took place on October 11, 2025, along the Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Highway, heading towards Queensbay Mall in Penang.
Ran over a dark object
According to the post, the couple was driving at around 12.30am when they accidentally ran over a dark object on the road, roughly the size of a bowl.
With vehicles approaching from behind, they had no time to swerve and could only drive over it.

Moments later, they heard a loud bang from beneath the car and realised one of the tyres was failing.
They pulled over to the side of the highway and began preparing to change the spare tyre themselves, one person handling the tools while the other kept watch for passing vehicles.
Being stranded on a highway at night was nerve-wracking, especially with concerns over safety and possible scams.
“He stopped without hesitation”
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the netizen said that at around 12.45am, a motorcycle slowly approached.

The rider, described only as an “abang”, stopped and asked if they needed help. Without hesitation, he assisted them in replacing the flat tyre, finishing the job close to 1am.
They attempted to offer him RM20 as a small token of appreciation, but the abang politely declined any payment. After ensuring everything was safe, he put on his jacket, got on his motorcycle, and rode off.

Inspired by a stranger’s kindness
The netizen expressed deep gratitude, saying that it is rare to encounter such kindness in today’s society, where people often have to consider personal safety, rising scam cases, and general mistrust.
Because of abang, we now feel inspired to become someone who is also willing to stop and help others in need,” they shared. “Hopefully, one day we’ll have the ability to be that person for someone else.”
The post ended with a simple but heartfelt message: “Terima Kasih Abang.”
