A Malaysian woman has taken to social media to express concern after her younger brother insisted on buying a car despite earning a modest income, claiming he was being pressured by his girlfriend to do so.
In a post shared on Threads, the woman said her brother earns a basic salary of around RM1,900, with a take-home pay between RM1,400 and RM1,600.
Despite this, he was determined to purchase a car.
She said she had advised him that owning a vehicle involves more than just paying monthly instalments, but he remained confident and repeatedly told her “boleh, boleh” (it’s possible).
The situation became more worrying for her when she claimed that her brother’s girlfriend had been encouraging him to buy a car.
She alleged that the girlfriend had even made insulting remarks towards her brother and their family when they voiced disapproval of the relationship.
“Now he still listens to his girlfriend telling him to buy a car. What should I do with someone like this?” she wrote.
