A man was caught on CCTV pulling off a scam by charming cashiers at convenience stores before stealing Touch ’n Go (TnG) PIN codes using a deceptive tactic.
Used charm to distract cashier
In a video shared on TikTok, a man dressed in an orange shirt was seen walking into a convenience store and approaching the counter to purchase a TnG credit PIN worth RM200.

While waiting, he chatted casually with the female cashier and even offered to buy her a drink.
To maintain the illusion, the man took two drinks from the fridge, presumably one for himself and the other for the cashier.

He then returned to the counter, received the TnG PIN slip and waited for the cashier to calculate the total amount.
Had phone hidden in shirt pocket
At this point, the scam tactic begins to unfold as the man, believed to have placed a mobile phone in his shirt pocket set to record mode, secretly captured the PIN code printed on the slip.
Moments later, he tells the cashier that he had left his wallet in the car and needed to retrieve it.

Before leaving the store, he walked a few steps and returned to the counter to confirm the total price—likely as part of his act to avoid suspicion before exiting the store and disappearing without a trace.

Linked to similar incidents
In separate videos posted by the TikTok page, the man is believed to have pulled off similar scams at other convenience stores across Johor, including those located at petrol stations.
In some instances, the man reportedly attempted to pay with a fake or non-functional debit card. When the payment failed, he would make an excuse to leave and never come back.
Authorities and store owners have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individual fitting the man’s description.
