A 75-year-old local man now faces a daily fine of RM20,000 for ignoring court orders to split RM60 million in matrimonial assets with his wife following their judicial separation.
This comes after the Kuala Lumpur High Court initiated contempt proceedings against the man last week, reported FMT.

Contempt proceedings were filed by the man’s 73-year-old wife over his failure to follow a judgement meted out on Nov 24, 2024, where she was awarded half of all assets, both movable and immovable, which were accumulated over their 50-year union.
In making her ruling, Judge Sumathi Murugiah ordered the man, anonymised as PAI, to comply with the order for 30 days or be thrown to jail.
She also imposed a daily fine of RM20,000 in the interim.
Had affair with woman 40 years younger
FMT reported that the couple’s marriage first began in 1977, throughout which the man’s wife made notable sacrifices to support his professional and business endeavours.

In September 2022, the man’s affair was exposed and his wife subsequently filed for judicial separation a month later and sought spousal maintenance and half of all assets acquired during the marriage.
Justice Evrol Mariette Peters, who presided over the original trial, also ordered a 38-year-old woman to pay the man’s wife RM200,000 for contributing to the marriage’s breakdown.
However, the husband denied cheating on his wife, claiming he suffered health issues such as erectile dysfunction.
