A Malaysian man was shocked to discover that one of his car tyres, together with the rim, had been stolen overnight outside his residential area in Penang.
The incident happened in Jelutong, Penang where the man usually parks his car near his home.
He shared his encounter on XHS, saying the area is commonly used by residents for parking and is also frequented by people walking their dogs or jogging in the evening. However, it becomes quiet and silent at night.

Went back to my hometown for a few days
He only realised the theft early in the morning when he noticed his car was missing a tyre.
He explained that he had gone back to his hometown for a few days and only returned to Penang the night before.
When he arrived home, he did not notice anything unusual because the stolen tyre was facing a wall, making it difficult to spot in the dark.
I’m not sure exactly when the theft happened. I only discovered it the next morning,” he shared.
He added that the stolen tyre was a relatively new Continental tyre, which is known to be expensive.

Attempted to check CCTV
Following the discovery, he attempted to check CCTV footage from nearby neighbours in hopes of catching the culprit.
Unfortunately, the neighbours’ cameras did not cover the area where his car was parked, leaving him with no solid evidence.
Since there was no useful CCTV footage and I felt that making a police report wouldn’t lead to much action, I decided not to lodge a report,” he said.
Spent RM920 to installed new ones
To get his car back on the road, he purchased a set of second-hand sport rims, two new tyres, and installed special security nuts to prevent future theft.
The total cost came up to RM920.
Interestingly, neighbours who have lived in the area for more than a decade told him that this was the first time such a theft had occurred in the neighbourhood.
