A Malaysian man was ordered to spend a lengthy time in jail by a court in Singapore after he pleaded guilty to secretly filming his landlady and her daughter showering and changing clothes for seven years.
This comes after the 40-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of voyeurism and one count of insulting the young girl’s modesty on Dec 30, 2024, reported CNA.

According to court documents, the man’s repulsive actions were exposed on Apr 8, 2024, when he was alone with the landlady at 10am.
Prior to that, the man was a work permit holder and worked as an aerospace machine operator in Singapore. He had also rented the place from the landlady for the past 10 years.
On the day of the incident, the man heard the sound of water running and discovered that the landlady was showering.
He then took his handphone and squatted outside the toilet, where he secretly filmed her through a gap between the door and the floor.
However, he was so engrossed in filming her that he failed to realised she had stepped out of the shower, where she screamed when she saw him with the phone.
He then fled to his room while the landlady contacted her husband, who then called the police at 11.22am.
Seven minutes later, police arrived at the house and arrested the man and seized several electronic devices from him, including four phones and nine storage devices.
Investigations later found that the man had been filming not only his landlady, but her young daughter as well since 2018, when she around just three years old.
Forensic examination of his devices revealed that he had stored 13 videos of the landlady, nine videos of her daughter and 74 screenshots of the videos of the landlady.
As for the young girl, he would film her from his room whenever the landlady changed her clothes in the master bedroom with the door open. He had a total of six videos of the girl naked in 2018.
In 2023, he took three more videos of her while she was changing clothes in the master bedroom.
He then edited two of the videos by shortening and keeping the parts where she was fully bare, where he would zoom into her private parts and change the video’s orientation from portrait to landscape so that she appeared upright.
The man admitted that the secret filming had occurred for years and found himself filming more videos the more emboldened he felt.
However, he claimed that the videos were made solely for his own sexual gratification and didn’t leak them elsewhere.
Jailed 19 months
In a victim impact statement, the landlady said she was still reeling from the aftereffects of the man’s actions and still remains traumitised to this day.
She added that his recording of her daughter deeply “shook” her, given the fact that he lived with them for years and knew each other well.
However, her daughter still remains in the dark about the recordings as the landlady and her husband aren’t ready to break the news to her as she is still young.
The landlady added that a CCTV has since been set up in her living room, while her husband has changed their house’s locks with digital ones to put her mind at ease.
As for the Malaysian man, he was sentenced to 19 months in jail.
