A 48-year-old man was rescued after he jumped off the Penang Bridge this morning in what’s believed to be a suicide attempt.
The incident happened at KM 2.2 of the bridge, heading towards the island, at around 10:03am on 9 November.
Left his car, then jumped

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, the man was first spotted leaving his car on the bridge before leaping into the sea moments later.
Panic quickly broke out among road users who witnessed the scene.
Saved by a fisherman
Fortunately, an angler who was fishing nearby saw the man in the water and sprang into action, successfully pulling him to safety before emergency responders arrived.
Fire dept handed him over to police

Fire and Rescue personnel from BBP Perai reached the location shortly after and worked to calm the victim down. He was later handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further action.
The entire operation concluded at 11:26am.
